2014 New Year Resolution post.

Unless you follow me regularly on Twitter, Does anyone still remember the early days when I used this logo?

I realise I'm probably 2 weeks late on this post, but internet in Central American jungles is apparently a luxury! In reflection 2013 has been a fairly mild year on the travel front. I flew 30-something sectors, 5 of which business class, about 18 Netherlands-UK sectors, and visited ‘only' 8 new countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. Oh yes, I also flew on a helicopter for the first time!

And of course I also started writing Points to be Made as a little side-project. It was more to see whether I had the mental capacity to blog, and to see whether it could be an interest I could sustain in the long run. I enjoy taking my time watching it grow slowly, rather than create a meteoric rise which I always try to do with other things in life.

That said, this time last year I would never have thought that within 4 weeks of starting PTBM, I'd be invited to write for BoardingArea, a group of blogs which I have truly admired and worshipped since I discovered frequent flier miles in 2011, and to have personal contact with my hero Randy Petersen.

But now I need to think about where PTBM goes over 2014. I'm keen to promote interactivity through either face to face contact, conferences, workshops, etc. I'm open to any suggestions from anyone regarding activities.

So let's set some targets:

  • Try not to dislike Skyteam so much…
  • Qualify for Star Alliance Gold from Aegean
  • Qualify for Oneworld Sapphire (probably British Airways)
  • Complete my beginners' guide to hotel points
  • Write my own Avios Masterclass series
  • Write at least 2 long haul premium product trip reports
  • Visit at least 5 new airport or airline lounges.
  • Start a new interactive programme as outlined above.

Here's to wishing you all happy travels over 2014!
