Earn 8000 bonus Tesco Clubcard points at Black Circles when buying Michelin tyres
Black Circles, the tyre retailers and fitters, have got a semi-decent partnership with Tesco. On top of being able to claim 2.62% cashback at Topcashback, you can claim 1 Clubcard point per £1 you spend on a selected range of 19″ or 20″ Michelin tyres. The details are on this link.
There is a staggered bonus system, so for spends of:
£400 – £599.99, you earn 3800 Clubcard points
£600-£799.99, you earn 5900 Clubcard points
£800+ you earn 8000 Clubcard points.
The specific Michelin tyres eligible for the above bonuses are:
- 4×4 Diamaris – 255/50 R19 W, 275/40 R20 Y, 285/45 R19 W
- Latitude Diamaris – 255/50 R19 V, 255/50 R20 Y, 275/40 R20 Y, 285/45 R19 V
- Latitude Sport – 235/55 R19 W, 265/50 R19 Y, 275/45 R19 Y, 275/45 R20 Y, 275/55 R19 V, 295/35 R21 Y
- Latitude Tour HP – 255/55 R19 V
- Pilot Sport 2 – 225/35 R19 Y, 225/40 R19 Y, 235/35 R19 Y, 245/35 R19 Y, 255/35 R19 Y, 265/35 R19 Y, 295/30 R19 Y, 295/35 R19 Y
- Pilot Sport 3 – 245/40 R19 Y, 255/35 R19 Y
- Pilot Super Sport – 225/35 R19 Y, 235/35 R19 Y, 235/40 R19 Y, 245/35 R19 Y, 245/40 R19 Y, 255/35 R19 Y, 255/35 R20 Z, 265/30 R19 Y, 275/30 R19 Y, 285/30 R20 Y
- Primacy HP Zero Pressure – 245/40 R19 Y, 275/35 R19 Y
- Pilot Primacy – 245/45 R19 Y, 275/40 R19 Y
Using the standard 250 Clubcard points = 600 Avios, your 8000 clubcard points are worth 19200 Avios. Alternatively if you exchange them for Virgin's Flying Club miles, then at 250 Clubcard points = 625 Flying Club miles, the bonus is worth 20000 miles.
If none of the above are suitable for your car, there are also other tyres which earn more per £, but have lower bonuses overall, so you can earn:
3 Clubcard points per £1 on Goodyear and Dunlop tyres
2 Clubcard points per £1 on Kumho and Yokohama tyres
But with with the bonus brackets of:
£400 – £599.99, earning 1300 Clubcard points
£600-£799.99, earning 2150 Clubcard points
£800+ you earn 3000 Clubcard points.
Clearly if you're going to spend £800 on tyres, I'd be inclined to go for the Michelin set, as the 5000 points difference between promotions are worth 12 000 Avios at the normal transfer rates, potentially 20000 if they ever another 250 points = 1000 Avios conversion promotion.
