Etihad Gold Status Match if you have Privium. Might still work if you don’t!
Hidden away in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's bulletin pages, one learns that Etihad are aggressively trying to status match frequent flyers of other airlines who are also members of Privium.
The highest you will get matched to is Etihad Gold. There isn't a comparison table, but you can be fairly certain if you have highest alliance-wide status, you'll get Etihad Gold. The process to get matched is fairly straightforward.
- Book a ticket with Etihad Airways before 1 August 2014. (It's not clear whether this means the travel has to be before then too)
- E-mail your booking reference with ‘Privium status Match’ in the subject heading and include a copy of your current frequent flyer card and balance to amssales@etihad.ae
I don't know whether they will ask for your Privium number, but if you satisfy the above conditions, and you don't have Privium there's no harm in trying! I don't have any travel booked with Etihad sadly so won't be able to report. I'm relying on readers to report back with their experience!
A side note: I remember back in my Aerolineas Argentinas status match, they wouldn't accept a simple scan of my card, they wanted to see a photo of my hand holding it! I don't know whether Etihad would ask the same, but don't be surprised if they reply back with this demand.
As mentioned earlier, please do report your experiences below, including any additional information requested. We can help each other out!
