Newly refurbished British Airways Lounge at Johannesburg now open

It's been a busy year of investment over at British Airways. I've lost count of how many lounges have undergone refurbishment, but all follow a nice, contemporary design concept which started its roll-out last year.

The latest lounge to receive its facelift is at Johannesburg, O.R. Tambo International Airport, with a capacity for 247 customers and a footprint of 880 square metres, or 9473 square feet. This will be good news for passengers on BA's South African subsidiary Comair too, given the airport's relative importance to their network.

Below are some photos sent to me by BA. According to the press release the lounge music will also be selected based on the time of day, with interior lighting and brightness tuned to suit the time of day.

And there is dedicated dining area for First Class customers. (I'm not sure whether this also extends to Oneworld Emerald or not – I have written in to ask for clarification). First Boutique Dining will offer pre-flight a-la-carte service so that passengers can eat ahead of their flight and sleep all the way to London.

New kitchen facilities with hot and cold options including Cape Malay curry, fresh seasonal salads, mezze, local charcuterie and Indezi river cheeses.

Meanwhile, closer to home, the BA lounge at Milan Linate also reopened, along with the whole airport, just a couple of weeks ago. Next on the list will be Geneva, Switzerland, also set to open in 2019.
