A quick reminder of a Flyertalk event in Jersey, UK

I wrote at the start of the year about a couple of Flyertalk gatherings in March and April. Well, don’t forget that there’s just less than a month until the one in Jersey, Channel Islands, UK on 27th April at 1200hrs. Here’s the Flyertalk thread about it. I highly recommend going to one if you’re…

Amex bonus 5000MR points experiment failed. Oh well!

I’m doing everything I can to empty my Membership Rewards account before I close my account this weekend. A couple of weeks ago I booked and cancelled a flight to see whether I could still get the 5000 MR points for spending ?2500. It didn’t work, and now I have a -5000 points balance, which…

Last chance for Hilton Hhonors rates before devaluation

I realise that this is long overdue, and that I’ve kept a little quiet the last couple of weeks week. I’ve had a few issues migrating this blog from the old server to the BoardingArea server and I’ve also been incredibly distracted by all the bureaucracy of my immigration to The Netherlands, and then I…

Check your Hertz Gold Plus reward balance!

Last weekend Hertz had a major IT upgrade/maintenance to their systems and most people’s Gold Plus Rewards accounts got changed in some way or another. Some for the better and some for the worse. I know of people whose balances got wiped to zero! However for me, my points doubled. And over the last few…

Points to be Made is taking a holiday for a week

As has been alluded, I’m on the move over to the Netherlands this next week and desperately need the time to sort things out. I’ll be spending most of next week saying goodbye to loved ones or converting my old bedroom into my mother’s new office! In addition, PTBM is undergoing its migration to BoardingArea this…

Quick tip: Avoiding KLM’s upcoming checked baggage fees

Quick tip: Avoiding KLM’s upcoming checked baggage fees

KLM will be introducing checked-in baggage fees starting 14th May 2013. I mentioned in my post that there’s a possibility that even the lowest level Flying Blue members might be able to avoid the charge. Well, one of my friends emailed me to have a rant about the change, but inadvertently provided the conclusive proof…

Some exciting news about PTBM, and more prizes for the epic giveaway

When I published my first post just last month, I had a vision that this blog would serve as a key resource for European travellers. I wondered what instrument of influence I would use to spread the knowledge of points. And I think I’ve struck gold.

BBC’s video on Air Miles, my additions, and what beginners should learn from the examples

The BBC has a video report entitled “Do frequent flyer programmes offer value for money?“.  I imagine most of my UK readers have seen it, but have a watch if you haven’t. I wanted to add my own comments and what beginners should learn from it.

Prizes #2 and #3 of the Epic Journey Home

So I’m now typing this from a massage chair at Singapore Chiangi. I’ve just enjoyed a pretty decent HKG-SIN Cathay Pacific Regional Business Class flight. I’m absolutely stuffed given that they kept on serving food throughout the flight. I still haven’t had a decent snooze so I’ll be switching the laptop off after this post.

Quick tip: American Airlines ticketing fees discrepancies

I probably call American Airlines once per month to make a booking of some kind. Their UK number requires dialling a non-geographical 0844 number which charges a few pennies per minute. In addition, the UK agents also charge a ?5 offline ticketing fee, though you can sometimes ask for this to be waived if the…
