Starwood Preferred Guest “More For You” promotion launched.

Starwood Preferred Guest's latest promotion has been launched, and to take part you must register by 30th November 2016.

Successful registrants will earn for stays up to 18th December 2016:

• Double points on weekday stays of two or more nights.
• Triple points on weekend stays of two or more nights. These will need to include a Friday or Saturday for most parts of the world, but Thursday or Friday night in the Middle East

Unlike the recent IHG promotion which can give a small boost for even one night stays, both conditions of this SPG promotion require multiple night stays which make it lose some appeal for mattress runners. Still, if you are a heavy business traveller, or someone who takes weekend breaks then you might be set for some decent earnings.

I find that the sweet spot for SPG redemptions are Category 1-3 hotels, especially with their part pay with points and cash options. You can snag decent hotels for around 2500 points plus cash. With a base earning rate of 2 points per US Dollar (before factoring in elite status) you can get your 2500 points after spending $600 during this promotion period on a weekday, dropping to $500 for Golds and $400 for Platinums.

Another decent way to spend SPG points is to transfer them to airline at a 1:1 ratio, with a bonus 5000 points per 20 000. So this way you will transfer 20000 SPG points and receive 25000 air miles.
