British Airways to reopen Concorde Room from tomorrow
Great news for those hoping for a sense of luxury travel resuming, the Concorde Room at Heathrow Terminal 5 and New York JFK airport will be reopening tomorrow, 1st September 2021, having been closed since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. BA reopened its Flagship US lounge earlier in the month.
As a reminder, the Concorde Room Lounge is provided specifically for those who are flying in First Class, as those with Oneworld Emerald status use a different lounge in both airports.
As a celebration of the reopening, BA have introduced a new cocktail menu, created exclusively for the airline by Mr Lyan (Ryan Chetiyawardana), a figurehead in the global cocktail scene. Driven by sustainability and his love for experimenting with new ingredients, he has carefully created an array of elegant cocktails for customers to enjoy depending on their individual tastes and preferences, ahead of their flight.
The new menu will contain seven cocktails, with two unique to British Airways serves designed in celebration of the airline’s heritage and iconic colleagues. The two special cocktails are named the Barton and Lawford after Lynne Barton, the first female British Airways pilot, and Bill Lawford, BA's first pilot from 1919. The Barton and Lawford will also be available in the Galleries Club lounges and First lounge.
Table service is provided in the Concorde Room as standard, but for other lounges you can use BA’s ‘Your Menu’ service, where you scan a QR code at your seat to ask for food and drinks to be delivered to your spot.
If you are a BAEC Bronze and very close to Silver, you may get additionally get lucky at check-in as BA will be treating some of those travellers plus a guest to use the lounges that a Silver would normally use
Tom Stevens, British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, said:
“As we start to gradually welcome back customers, we want to ensure that they have the best experience possible with British Airways. We are looking at every element of the customer experience, from sleep pods and signatures cocktails in our newly reopened lounges, to roast dinners onboard and additional benefits for our card holders – we want flying with British Airways to be memorable. Our teams will continue to innovate, and we look forward to sharing more exciting developments with our customers over the coming months.”
If you are feeling a little dozy you can also pre-book the ‘Forty Winks’ EnergyPods, and very helpfully you can request a time to be woken up and also choose a hot drink straight afterwards. Water and hot towels are also provided to make the awakening service nice and pleasant.
