Marriott to open 30 luxury hotels in 2020

Marriott recently announced it will open more than 30 luxury properties over 2020, as it attempts to focus on luxury and the high-end market of the hospitality industry. These properties will be across the The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, EDITION, JW Marriott brands.

The Ritz-Carlton

The Ritz-Carlton open in Morocco for the first time in Rabat while in Asia there will be openings in Nikko, Japan and Nanjing, China.

North America sees Scottsdale, Arizona and Mexico City, and the inaugural voyage of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is expected in June 2020.

St. Regis

St. Regis anticipates openings in Cairo, Egypt, and on the Riviera Maya, Mexico, and similarly on The Palm Islands, Dubai, UAE.

W Hotels

New openings for W Hotels in 2020 are scheduled in Philadelphia, Toronto, Chengdu, and Melbourne.

There are also set to be openings in Milan and Rome though these not confirmed for next year, and renovations (either underway or completed) in Washington D. C. and San Francisco. Union Square in New York City will undergo “complete renovation”.

EDITION Matches Sophisticated Style With Global Growth

The EDITION brand, which is a collaboration between boutique hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriott International, made its debut in 2019 in New York City and Los Angeles.

For 2020 a new EDITION will be opened in Reykjavik, with a further 10 hotels over six countries being planned, including Tokyo and Dubai.

The Luxury Collection openings

The Luxury Collection anticipates openings in coveted locations spanning the globe, including Nashville and Budapest, Hungary, as well as Hobart, Australia

JW Marriott openings

The JW Marriott brand is anticipating an expansion from 90 to 115 hotels over the next 3 years. First out of the blocks for 2020 will be Savannah, Orlando and Anaheim in the U.S. and Istanbul; Danang, Vietnam; Nara, Japan; Muscat, Oman and Monterrey, Mexico.
